This Privacy Policy applies to any personal information you provide to CYB or authorise us to collect. By providing CYB with personal information, using our website (at https://www.centurybatteries.co.nz ("Site")), purchasing products on the Site or in a CYB store, or otherwise dealing with CYB, you authorise us to collect, use, and disclose your personal information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

This Privacy Policy applies in addition to, and does not limit, our rights and obligations under the Privacy Act 2020 (as amended or replaced from time to time) (“Privacy Act”) or any specific authorisation that you provide to us when you interact with us or use our services.

What happens if we can’t collect your information?

You are not required to provide us with any personal information that we request. However, if you do not do so, we may not be able to provide certain services to you, for example:

  • we may not be able to deliver any orders;
  • we may not be able to provide our services to you;

What is personal information?

Generally, we collect personal information directly from you, for example we may collect personal information from you:

Depending on the dealings you have with us, we may disclose your personal information:

  • within the GS Yuasa Corporation, including between Century Yuasa Batteries (NZ) Ltd and related companies such as Century Yuasa Batteries Pty Ltd;
  • to any organisation with your consent;
  • debt collectors (if required to recover any overdue amounts) - debt collectors may retain any personal information that we provide to them and use it to provide their debt collection services; and
  • as otherwise permitted by the Privacy

We may also share your personal information with third parties for the purpose of providing services to us, including:

  • to our contractors or service providers for the purposes of operating our Site or our business and fulfilling orders and other requests made by you. This may include web hosting providers, IT systems administrators, mailing houses, couriers, payment processors, data entry service providers, electronic network administrators and professional advisors such as accountants, solicitors, business advisors and consultants; and

Other than as specified in this Privacy Policy, we do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to others. We may share generic aggregated demographic information not linked to any personal information regarding visitors to our Site and our customers with our business partners, trusted affiliates and advertisers for the purposes outlined above.

Do we disclose personal information to anyone outside New Zealand?

Being part of a global group, CYB may share your personal information with our affiliates within the GS Yuasa Corporation. The countries in which our overseas affiliates are located are Australia, Japan, USA, Europe, China, Indonesia, and Thailand.

Where we transfer personal information outside New Zealand, we will ensure that we comply with the Privacy Act.

Direct Marketing materials

We may send you direct marketing communications and information about our products and services that we consider may be of interest to you. These communications may be sent by us or on our behalf in various forms, including mail, SMS, and email, in accordance with applicable marketing laws, such as the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007. If you indicate a preference for a method of communication, we will endeavour to use that method whenever practical to do so. In addition, at any time you may opt-out of receiving marketing communications from us by contacting us (see the link below) or by using opt-out facilities provided in the marketing communications. We will then ensure that your name is removed from our mailing list within a reasonable time.

We do not provide your personal information to other organisations for the purposes of their direct marketing.

How we store your information

Personal Information that we collect is either held by us at our head office (refer to the Contact Us section below) or on our behalf. For example, some information we hold will be stored in “the cloud” in secure databases on our behalf by third parties based overseas. The use of these services, and the transfer of information overseas (if applicable) will not relieve us of our obligations under the Privacy Act and this Privacy Policy.

How we protect your information

We adopt appropriate data collection, storage and processing practices and security measures to protect against unauthorised access, use, alteration, disclosure or destruction of your personal information. We do this through a number of ways including:

  • using industry standard firewalls and security practices to protect personal information;
  • using technology products to prevent unauthorised computer access to our network and databases; and
